In Episode 35 ‘Experiential Motivational Interviewing’ we talk with Matt McKenzie who is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Alabama, USA, member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and a certified experiential specialist. Matt received his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Alabama – Birmingham in 2016 and he is currently working on his Doctoral of Philosophy at the University of Holy Cross in New Orleans, LA. Professionally, he has applied experiential learning methods with motivational interviewing in substance abuse treatment with adjudicated adolescents, emerging adults and adults. Matt has also seen positive outcomes of experiential motivational interviewing as a corporate educator and professional consultant when delivering teaching techniques. He has provided training opportunities to health and wellness coaches, military personnel and mental health practitioners. Matt recently co-authored, Experiential Motivational Interviewing: An Action-Oriented Way of Being, with Marc Pimsler.
